This episode of Give Us a Minute is in support of a friend from the Twitter network. Diana K. Schubert is making the run in my hometown of Richmond for the Richmond Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. This episode is not only about the importance of getting involved and how your time can make a difference, but is also is your opportunity to have Diana take a step or two in Joe’s name on May 10, 2008.

That being said, this episode is a look back on the “I Remember Joe” Tribute along with a warm wish of health and happiness to Brooke Zepp that has taken a step forward in beating leiomyosarcoma.

One small step in the right direction…

From Songjewel on my Twitter Network, something to smile about and think “Yes, this is the right direction to head in…”

Breakthrough Surgery Saves Terminal Patient

From ABC News:

Brooke Zepp, 63, was told that her tumor was inoperable because it was buried so deep inside her abdomen and that she had only months to live. After receiving a diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma, Zepp found a team of surgeons willing to perform an unprecedented operation. It took seven surgeons more than 15 hours, in which they removed her stomach, pancreas, spleen, liver and large and small intestines, while keeping Zepp alive. Once they cut out the tumor, which was wrapped around a major artery, they painstakenly put all the organs back in her body.

So close on the anniversary of Joe’s death, this kind of progress is not only timely but inspiring.

Remembering Joe…

“I Remember Joe”
A Special Podcast Hosted by
The Joe Murphy Memorial Fund

April 1, 2008 marks one year since the passing of podcaster, Joe Murphy. Last year, in honor of his memory, many podcasts went dark for that week or paid tribute to his memory. This year, the Joe Murphy Memorial Fund would like to do something different.

WHAT WE WANT:
Between Sunday March 23 and Saturday March 29, we will be collecting 1-2 minute memories of the loved voice heard on such podcasts like Wingin’ It, Slice of SciFi, and The Kick Ass Mystic Ninjas. No longer than two minutes, we are asking for a memory or a testimony on how Joe Murphy touched your life. This is an open call to podcasters and listeners of podcasts.

If you want an idea of what we want, you can listen to Tee Morris’ submission by clicking here.

So, to review, we are looking for a memory or testimony, who you are, your geographical location, and the closing line “And I remember Joe.” No longer than two minutes. No background music or FX. Please send your submissions to Tee Morris at tee (at) teemorris (dot) com in mp3 format (128 kbps, 44kHz, Joint Stereo). Address your e-mail as “Submission for I Remember Joe” with your name and location as you would like it to appear on the blog post.

If you have no ways or means of recording your voice on your computer, call Tee Morris’ Voice Mail line at 703.791.1701 and leave a submission. Same guidelines apply.

WHAT WE DON’T WANT:
We do not want this to be a platform for your podcast or something/someone you’re promoting. Note in the example given, it was “My name is Tee Morris. I’m from….” and not “This is Tee Morris of The Survival Guide to Writing Fantasy and Podcasting for Dummies. I’m from…” Any kind of promotion like this will remove your recording from the tribute. Please keep in mind: This is about Joe and about the Joe Murphy Memorial Fund, not a promotional opportunity. We are wanting sincere memories and testimonies, not promos for other podcasts or special events.

WHAT WE WILL DO:
The Joe Murphy Memorial Find will post between March 30-31 this special tribute on The Joe Murphy Memorial Fund feed.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
On April 1st, either in place of or in addition to your show if you have one posted on that date, we at the Joe Murphy Memorial Fund ask that you play this special episode. Play no additional promos, just this episode, and please direct show notes for the episode here at joemurphymemorialfund.org.

The more people carry this episode, the more people will know about our missing ninja. Thank you all for your time and attention. Tell everyone you know.

Don’t tell anyone, but Ian Shields, aka the Ranting Scotsman, has done something truly wonderful.

He created and posted this beautiful
